Book Review

To address the needs of organization for the people with different abilities on the importance of the description of implementation or practice of RBM (Rehabilitasi Bersumberdaya Masyarakat/Community Based Rehabilitation) program in the field level, KARINAKAS published a book entitled: “Dari Sukoharjo untuk Indonesia, Praktik Baik Rehabilitasi Bersumberdaya Masyarakat” (From Sukoharjo For Indonesia, Good Practice of Community Based Rehabilitation) with the hope to inspire all parties who need to implement the RBM program in their respective areas.

The book which was authored by Pramono Murdoko, the Manager Program of Care Program of KARINAKAS, was going to be reviewed on Thursday, 8 September 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the office of KARINAKAS, Gedung Belarasa Jl, Panuluh 377 Pringwulung, Depok Sleman. The event was inviting the speaker, Pramono Murdoko (as the author), Setia Adi Purwanto (Director of Dria Manunggal), and Sunarman (Director of PPRBM Solo), and Nurul Sa’adah (Director of SAPDA) as the moderator.

What is RBM? The definition for Rehabilitasi Bersumber Daya Masyarakat (RBM) by WHO was changing over time. RBM or CBR (Community Based Rehabilitation) which was initially emphasized the medical or education services, changes into a concern on the equal rights and lowering of poverty of people with special needs. Recently, RBM was interpreted by WHO (World Health Organization) as a strategy to improve the access to the rehabilitation service for people with different abilities to utilize the local resources in optimal way.

Sasana Integrasi dan Advokasi Difabel (SIGAB) (Integraton and Advocation for Persons with Different Ability Arena) held Temu Inklusi 2016. The biennale is an open event which unites various parties of the persons with different ability activists. It was established on December 2014, in Sendangtirto Village, Berbah, Sleman, Yogyakarta. More than 300 participants who were the representative of organization of persons with different ability, civilians organization, and activists of the inclusion of persons with different ability. They have become the part of Temu Inklusi 2014 which was resulted in the idea to establish ‘Desa Inklusi’ (Inclusive Village).
           In the last two years, many initiatives and movements of the inclusion of persons with different ability is increasing and showing many good practices and success. The idea of Desa Inklusi in Temu Inklusi 2014 had been initiated in some Districts.

          KARINAKAS through Caring Program participates in realizing the Desa Inklusi in Sukoharjo and Klaten, especially in Weru Sub-district, Sukoharjo and Karanganom Klaten. The program of KARINAKAS is resulting many good practices in those sb-districts. One of them which is presented in Temu Inklusi 2016 is Self Help Group (SHG) of Weru Sub-district, Sukoharjo which exhibits and sells various products by persons with different ability, in the form of crafts, i.e bags, toys, herbal medicines, and food.

          In Temu Inklusi 2016 which was held in Sidorejo Village, Lendah, Kulonprogo there was national seminar. The seminar was inviting keynote person from the Village Ministry, Sharing dan Appreciative Inquiry, Thematic Workshop, and Inclusion Games. Temu Inklusi which was attended by various organization for persons with different ability in Indonesia also attended by Social Affair Minister, Khofifah Indar Parawangsa. (Author: Ferry T.
