It was taken place from 22-24 February 2016 and guided by Father Petrus Sunu Hardiyanto, SJ., the Provincial of Society of Jesus.
The Laudato Si Encyclical was a quote from doxology of St. Francis of Assisi to God for the beauty of the creation. This praise was written on August 1226 when St. Francis of Assisi was in serious illness. This encyclical dated 24 May 2015, published on 18 June 2015, 184 pages, with the subtitle of “Maintenance for Public Houses, About the Development of Environment and Its Endurance”. This encyclical was prepared by Cardinal Peter Turkson (President of JPIC) along with his team who got some inputs from the theologians and experts in the environmental field.
What is the essence of Laudato Si Encyclical? What happened to our shared home? There were 7 important things; Pollution and climate change, water problems, the loss of biodiversity, the decline of human life quality and the division of society, global imbalance, weak responses, and various opinions.
This chance of retreat was the time to stop for a while to refresh the individual spiritual side. Retreat became the chance to draw strength for the more productive works in the field. It also was intended that each member of Caritas family fathomed the message from The Pope Francis so that each individual could see the meaning of the living environment, do the ecological repentance and make the environmental protection and improvement as the mainstream in the humanity works.
