24.00 – 05.59
Observer from Ketep reported that at 02.08 o’clock there were rumble sound from the peak of Merapi. Then, giant smoke came out from the peak. At 08.30 o’clock, it was observed that there were lava and light of fire. At 05.00 o’clock, 1500 m high smoke was observed.
06.00 – 11.59
The weather was cloudy and foggy since morning. Wind blowed from East to West. Middle intensity rain ash happened in Selo, Boyolali at 09.00 – 10.30.

Tectonic earthquake (5,6 Richter) happened in Yogyakarta for 2 seconds. Its epicenter was located at 94 kilometers southwest of Yogyakarta. It did not make any significant effect to the province of Yogyakarta or civilian or IDPs.
Moderate rain occurred in the afternoon.
15:30
2700 m-high smoke comes from the peak and moved toware northwest.
Due to the high volcanic activity G. Merapi and the status is still set at the level of caution, government is recommended as follows:
- It shall be conducted an investigation of volcanic ash that could potentially interfere with flight route to and from the Adisucipto. International Airport, Yogyakarta
- Any activities in disaster prone areas III are not allowed, particularly for those who stay around the river (the threat of danger hot clouds and lava flood) that tipped in Merapi Southeast, South, Southwest, West and Northwest sectors ( Woro river, Gendol river, Kuning river, Boyong river, Bedog river, Krasak river, Bebeng river, Sat river, Lamat river, Senowo river, Trising river, and Apu river).
- Immediately evacuate IDPs to safer places place outside a radius of 20 km from the peak of Merapi Volcano.
Some IDPs sometimes come back to their house which is located on the dangerous area. They do that to see and to take care their possesions (goods, cattle). Even, it has been promised that the government will buy every cattle that IDPs had, they do not trust that. That is why some IDPs still found in their house and doing their activities as usual. This is happened on some areas under radius 15-20 km from the peak of Merapi.
B. Coordinational
- Vicariate Episcopalis of Yogyakarta invite parish priests, KARINAKAS, Karina KWI, and CIMOs (Caritas Internationalis Member Organizations) to have a meeting. The discussion indicates that assistance program for IDPs will not be end on the emergency phase only. . Every parish and CIMOs agreed to conduct post emergency phase project, i.e rehabilitaion, reconstruction, livelihood.]. Another meeting will be conducted to make action plan.
- CIMOs meeting resulted that Emergency Appeal for Merapi Eruption is needed. EA proposal will be prepared. It is planned to be implemented after November 23rd. It will take 60 days to conduct. EA program is divided into two part. The first is to continue emergency response project, the second one is to prepare rehabilitation and reconstruction phase.
- IDPs are still moving from one place to another. Now, more IDPs have reached Kulonprogo and Gunung Kidul area. But, still, the number can not be identified since they always move.
- KARINAKAS decided to stop all program activities, excluding the scheduled one, to focus on emergency response phase. Staffs will work on schedule from November 1st to Desember 1st.
- It is identified that fund from local donation and CIMOs could be implemented until November 23rd . After that, KARINAKAS will be implementing partner of EA program.
KARINAKAS conducted assesment to the areas that was assisted before. Since the evacuation of IDPs was going on and IDPs are moving to other places, data will be improved due to vulcanic activity of Merapi.
